Songs: I’ve Been Working on the Railroad; I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing
Program: Snow Train Music Festival, Jon Gardzelewski
Introduction: Murray Schroeder
Jon Gardzelewski grew up in Laramie. He left Wyoming for an architectural career, and returned to Laramie to do some of that work here. He also has a passion for playing music.
Jon has a record store downtown called Battle Songs Records. It’s across the street from the Buckhorn.
Several years ago, Jon helped start a Wyoming singer/songwriter competition in Laramie. Now that competition is statewide. This year, the competition added in a Wyoming Song Category, as an unofficial state song.
This year, the competition is over Labor Day. There are 60 sign ups. The group created a documentary to get the word out. The club saw a bit of this. You must be a Wyoming resident to compete. Over the four-day competition, there are several elimination rounds before the winners are announced. There is also songwriting.
The Snow Train Festival will be the third weekend in September in Laramie. The group is working on a call to artists to see how many the festival can accommodate.
The headliner will be Laramie native, Shelby Means, who has made quite the name for herself in Nashville. She will perform at the Gryphon Theatre.
The full festival will have about 15 venues with 5-10 places being active with music at once. The winner of the Wyoming Song Category will perform.
Sponsorships and tickets are available online. The web address is: snowtrainmusicfest.com.

Rotary 4-way test
Of the things we think, say, or do:
•Is it the Truth?
•Is it Fair?
•Will it build Good Will and
Better Friendships?
•Will it be Beneficial to All
Concerned?
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
•FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
•SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
•THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
•FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
