Introduction: Rollin Abernethy
A spring graduate from the University of Wyoming with a BS in Biology with
minors in Honors and Psychology, Summer will be attending the University of Edinburgh
in Scotland. The Dunbar Rotary Club will be the bridge club with Laramie.
Her PhD research will be evaluating Community-Based Functional Fitness Programs with interest
in health in Social Sciences with a focus on the reduction of the incidence/severity of
non-community based functional health issues.
She has had previous experiences of studies in other countries, including a time at the Tarrvate Lab in Gamboa, Panama, for Behavioral Research and where she has since been invited to return for studies there.
In the spring of 2023, she attended the
University of Chester in North Wales. There she joined a local gym and became acquainted with Crossfit Chester…a program where she, for the first time, felt at home.
Returning to Laramie she became a coach at Crossfit 7220 and found it a way to connect with people and study how physical activity affects people. She has also captained the UW Girls Rugby team. With Honors Capstone Research she again studied abroad in the spring of 2024. She designed a research project to help people
with physical issues.
Among other projects she has worked with are Strong Girls Squad/The Academy Program: Charity programs for youth; adult programs Bridging the Gap, Fit for Life and the 180 Project – addressing special needs. Her interests include evaluating a comprehensive approach to health behavior.
She wants to see a world in which people feel capable of making changes in their lives. She has a drive to serve communities through that experience. Her PhD may be 3-1/2 years out as it will take 9-12 months for each facet of her studies.

Rotary 4-way test
Of the things we think, say, or do:
•Is it the Truth?
•Is it Fair?
•Will it build Good Will and
Better Friendships?
•Will it be Beneficial to All
Concerned?
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
•FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
•SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
•THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
•FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
