A Note from New District Governor Lee Varra-Nelson: I’d like to thank past district governor Shurie Scheel for her superb leadership this past year as our District Governor.  She continues to support the concept of the district leadership team.  She saw the benefit of having more voices at the table that bring synergy and continuity to our goals and direction.  Each of us gained foundational knowledge and strength from being a member of the leadership team as we progressed through the stages of the governor line.  Shurie led a review and update of the district vision and strategic plan that started us off in the right direction so we could continue strong throughout the year. Her insight, compassion and humor will be missed.  Thank you, Shurie, so much for what you did for the district this past year.

Members of the leadership team started our club visits the week of July 11.  DGE Steve Sehnert, DGN Julie Johnson Haffner and I will complete our club visits the week of October 24.  We’re looking forward to spending time with the club leaders and members learning about your club’s activities and projects.  We will also be sharing the year’s district goals with you.  So, enjoy the summer, spend time with your family and friends, Imagine Rotary and Dream Big!

Rotary Responds to Support Ukraine: The Rotary Foundation has raised more than $15. Million in contributions that are helping provide people of Ukraine with essential items such as water, food, shelter, medicine, and clothing.

Rotary members in North America, South American, and Europe have collaborated with a U.S.-based association of Ukrainian health care workers. They have used their connections to collect and ship more than 350 tons of critical medical supplies to Ukraine.

Ukraine has 62 Rotary clubs and 7 satellite clubs that include about 1,100 members. There are also 25 Rotaract clubs with more than 300 members.

In Germany, three clubs have developed a housing-specific platform called Spaces for Ukraine. Nearly 400 refugees have found homes through the site and 925 host families are registered.

Rotarians are also helping the more than 3 million refugees that have been taken in by Poland.

Rotary 4-way test
Of the things we think, say, or do
•Is it the Truth?
•Is it Fair?
•Will it build Good Will and Better Friendships?
•Will it be Beneficial to All Concerned?

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
•FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
•SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
•THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
•FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

Response: The Rotary Club of Laramie will make a donation to the public library children’s book fund in the speaker’s name.
